Notice Regarding Transfer of Vehicle Ownership
Transport Malta notifies that with effect from 1st June 2011, when a Transfer of Ownership of a Motor Vehicle is being registered, the presentation of the Identity Cards of the buyer, the seller and the witness, will no longer be required.
A new Application Form (VEH 50), available for download here, or from the Land Transport Directorate offices at Sa Maison and Floriana, may be used, and this must be presented together with the following:
• Original Registration Certificate (log book);
• Valid Insurance policy in the name of the buyer;
• Payment of administrative fee of €6 for the reissue of a new Registration Certificate.
If the current Registration Certificate (log book) is used, and not the new form VEH 50 for a transfer of ownership, the copies of ID Cards will still be required. Other conditions remain unchanged.
